Useful Fun in the English Classroom

Nowadays fun is considered a desirable element in almost all classrooms, because students of all ages expect their teacher to be an entertainer, at least sometimes. Following the trend, many teachers comply. However, what makes fun meaningful or what kind of fun really helps to progress in language learning is not always understood correctly by teachers and students. In this session we will look into the psychological side of fun and entertainment. Then we will try out activities and techniques that make fun useful.

Olga has been involved in teacher training for more than 15 years and she has worked as a Director of Studies at a big language school in Moscow. She is a trainer for Cambridge CELTA and DELTA courses with international experience. Since 2020 she has been working as a syllabus developer, materials designer and editor. She continues running teacher training and teacher development courses and providing methodology consultancy.
